School - Home Relationships
Developing and maintaining good relationships between school and home are important to us, and to your child's wellbeing and learning
We use various methods of communication to keep you informed about what is happening at school and what is coming up. You can read about these HERE
However, there is more to the School - Home relationship than us sending out a notice for you to read. Other ways we can form good relationships with whaanau include;
Assembly
Open Door Policy & Parent Involvement
We have an open-door policy here at Roto-o-Rangi, and welcome parents, caregivers, whaanau into our school at all times. Your involvement in our learning programmes is much appreciated. If you would like to speak with your child's teacher it is best to set a time with them to make sure they are available. Please always see your child's teacher in the first instance. You can find their contact information here
If you would like to join your child in classroom activities please make arrangements with their classroom teacher.
Reporting to Parents
Two written reports come home every year; a Mid Year Report at the end of Term 2 and the End of Year Report in December.
Our teachers use an app called Class Dojo to keep in touch with whaanau and to show them what their tamariki have been working on in class. We are now using this as part of PB4L to award 'Dojo Points' to our tauira students when they are actively displaying the school values. Speak to your child's teacher about sending you an access code to follow your child's progress and connect with their learning!
End of Year Prizegiving
Before school is out for Summer, we come together to celebrate the year. Speeches are made, class awards are given and we farewell our Year 6 students whilst acknowledging their achievements and the difference they have made as citizens of Roto-o-Rangi School. It's an important close off to the year, and we like to have as many families and students there as possible to celebrate together as a school community.
