Roto-o-Rangi School

Swimming is an important part of our physical education programme and we are fortunate to have our own heated pool. Our Swimming programme begins in Term 1 where the children swim every day throughout the term. In Term 4, swimming lessons begin again mid term.  Children are taught the essentials of being water safe and develop key swimming skills so that they feel confident in the water and develop great swimming stroke techniques.  In March each year, we hold our annual swimming sports event for the whole school.

This year the whole school attended the swimming sports at St Peters School.  Junior classes participated in swimming demonstrations in the indoor pool before we moved to the outdoor pool for age group and championship races.  Each house got behind their swimmers, wearing their house colours and, encouraging and cheering them on to give it their best.

All our senior children compete in the Rural Schools Swimming sports against other Cambridge Rural Schools.  Top 3 place winners then form the Rural Team to compete at the Cambridge Swimming Sports at the end of March.  The Rural Swimming Sports are held at St Peter's School where our swimmers did incredibly well and then go on to the Cambridge Schools' Swimming Sports.

We are also fortunate to offer swimming coaching by a professional swimming coach after school hours in our school pool.  For more information please click on the following link. Swimming Lessons

The families in our school community are also able to hire a key for the pool so that they can use the pool after school, in the weekends and in the school holidays.  For more information about this please contact the school office.
