Rural Schools' Athletics
Date: 15th November 2023
Time: 9:45 am to 2:30 pm
ALL STUDENTS AGED 8, 9, 10 and 11.
All children will compete in a variety of athletics events such as 100m sprints, discus, high jump, long jump, vortex throw, and shot put. Some students will be selected for the 400m race and the Relay Team. All age groups participate at the same time and so children will be dispersed across the fields. Once the programme of events is provided, we will post it on Facebook and send it via Skool Loop.
We will need to take the bus, but we will still need some help to get our 53 students to and from the event.
We expect to leave school no later than 9.30am to be there for the welcome at 10:00am. Students who live in town may travel straight to the grounds and we will meet you there. Please indicate this on the permission form. We should depart the grounds at about 2.15 pm to return to school for the buses.
If children are being picked up from the Athletics Grounds, the office needs to be notified before we leave school, or their class teacher must be notified at the grounds. We will not accept a student's word that they were told to walk home/walk downtown/wait for parents. If we have not been told by an adult, the students will be put on the bus and returned to school.
Each child will need:
School shirt and black shorts.
Sun protection – sunblock, bucket hat (as they are in the sun all day, no hat – no participation).
Food – morning tea, lunch and plenty of water.
Footwear
Parents/whaanau/friends are most welcome to come along and support their child during the day. We need a parent or 2 to help us with the long jump pit (the event we look after) so if you could help out, that would be appreciated.
Please complete and return the permission form by Monday 6th November.
Many thanks,
The Roto Team
