Te Ohu Kaiarahi o te Kapua Iti
Date: 19th September 2024
Time: 10:00 am to 2:30 pm
Te Ohu Kaiarahi o te Kapua Iti is an initiative begun within the Te Oko Horoi Kahui Ako. 10 students from Roto-o-Rangi are selected to participate in the programme with the hope they will come back to our kura and lead some of that learning in the classroom.
Some aims of Te Ohu are:
1. Enhance the transition and continuity in kapa haka through increased participation throughout the schooling pathway.
2. Build and practise leadership capacity and capability in our tamariki including leading within their kura and building mauri and mana.
3. Expressing self and culture by sharing and enjoying Te Ao Maaori.
The sessions are structured in a way that there are mixed groups of tamariki working around a rotation of learning and activities facilitated by kaiako. The rotations are going to be based on the sharing, learning and teaching of local stories and curricula, kapa haka and traditional games.
Whaanau of the tamariki are encouraged to attend whenever they can, and at any part of the day so that you can experience what the tamariki are doing.
